I had a plan...

... truly.. I did. It wasn't a written down plan as such, it was more a well thought out, firmly held in the brain kind of plan.
In my plan, I could see myself, self-disciplined, applying myself to all the tasks saved up until I fully retired. Because there would be no more 6 am phone calls asking "are you available for work today?" no more school kids saying, "you can't tell me what to do... you're not my teacher!" and other similar soul-crushing statements. No, there would be time..
In my plan, quilts would fly off the sewing machine, my craft room would become a model of organisation and industry, UFOs would be a thing of the past and so on... I'm sure you get the idea.
Nowhere in my plan did I have listed increasingly frequent trips to the library to feed my reading addiction, hours spent on the computer battling zombies or solving solitaire puzzles. Where did I go wrong???
Oh well.. I guess I need Plan B.
And maybe this time I need to write it down?

It's a start

Thank goodness the weather has cooled a little and I can bear to do something other than sweat buckets. I have played a bit more with my chintz furnishing samples to make this lined, zippered pouch.

I had never made one with lining but there is a lot of tutorials on the internet.  I'm not totally happy but I learned what not to do next time. I plan to make some for the shop at Wolston House. My local Bargain Box fabric shop had a stack of cheap zips which suits me and my thrifty soul just fine!

Tuesday treasures

I'm a bit late posting today as I went to the movies earlier to see The Hobbit. I loved it, but I have been a Tolkien fan for a long time, and I know it's not the kind of film that appeals to everyone. Having said that, it must be the most expensive ad campaign for New Zealand ever made!!! If the scenery doesn't inspire one to visit.... well I don't know what would.
Anyway that's a digression, not my treasure for the day. This is a recent treasure, a Christmas gift from my daughter to be exact. She has taken scans of my mother's recipes ( in her handwriting) and had them printed on to tea towels. Isn't that fabulous!
This one is Mum's plum pudding recipe...

... and this one is an everyday cake.

I know I will treasure these for a long time.
Don't forget to pop over to Melody's to see who else is sharing today.

Transformed

Although it has been a bit steamy here, I had no choice but to spend time in the kitchen today. When you have got lots of these...

..something has to be done before they go bad. So, they got turned into these.

Yum!
