Tuesday treasures

Today our treasured pets are featuring on Melody's blog. I have posted before about my beautiful cat Bella, but of course, there have been many cats in my life.

This is Cleo, who moved with me from Brisbane to Ipswich six years ago. She was only ten years old when she developed a tumour in her mouth and sadly I had to have her put to sleep. It took me two years to be ready for another pet.

But where are the fairies?

Spotted these in a pot at Wolston House yesterday. Can you tell we have had a 'bit' of rain lately?

Tuesday treasures

My treasure today is another item from my Grandmother's house. I find it a little ironic that I have so many of her things; she was a great one for playing favourites with her grandchildren and I wasn't one of them. This jug however has more meaning for me than most of her other items in my possession, because of its links to my father. Dad remembered it as always being on the breakfast table, filled with milk. From their own cows of course, since he grew up on a dairy farm. You can see it is a bit stained and crazed, but I love it anyway.

Tuesday treasures

My treasure today is this little bear which was a gift from my grand-daughter. She wasn't very old at the time and chose it herself. It sits on my bedside table so I am reminded of her every night when I switch off my lamp.

Don't forget to visit Melody to see who else is sharing today.. and have a  LOVEly Valentine's Day.

Sweet stuff

I have been indulging myself recently in a positive orgy of reading; only emerging for brief periods when necessary to feed myself and the cat. Oh, there were a few days of work, a birthday lunch or two (my son, not me) and shopping for food (for me and the cat) squeezed in between visits to the library for re-fueling my addiction, but on the whole I have been lost in the fog. I think I'm almost out of it but...

I did also manage to emerge for the time it took to make my annual batch of plum jam- taking advantage of the current price war of course, and it went well. Thank heavens for the microwave timer or it could have been burnt jam.. not sure what book I was reading at the time!

After the storm...

Late Wednesday afternoon there was a storm.. just a bit of thunder, a heavy shower, not much wind. Then came the sunset. Unfortunately the photo doesn't do it justice.
