Warm and cosy

The weather has been totally foul this week, just the kind that makes you want to snuggle and be warm. Unfortunately, our homes in South-east Queensland are more suited for hot weather, so it is necessary to rug up well when we do have a cold snap.

I have been knitting a bit lately and produced the ruffled scarf in time to get some use from it. The mohair one is for my daughter, but I'm not sure if it will get any use this winter. I'd forgotten that mohair can be a bit tricky if you need to go back to fix a mistake and sadly, this lacy pattern has meant a bit of frogging. Grr... It's just not growing as quickly as I wanted. And, of course, now the weather is improving!!!

It's knitting time!

Now that the mornings are getting a little fresh, it must be time to think about knitting projects. While I have plans to begin a cardigan for myself, I need to sharpen my skills.
At the library I found a book full of cute little mug cosies to knit and have made one for my sister.

This pattern is called 'Bits and Bobs' for obvious reasons.

Very quick to make and a good use for leftover bits of wool and the odd button.

Winter dreams

With the colder weather we've been having recently in South-East Queensland, the idea of getting cozy with some knitting has lots of appeal. With only vague thoughts about what I might want to knit (keeping in mind my vow to use my stash whenever possible), I began browsing to find free patterns on the Internet. Lots of sites, such as Ravelry, offer an amazing number of patterns, but the yarn companies like Cleckheaton and Patons, also offer a stack of free stuff.

On the Jo Sharp website I found a pattern that I think would be great for making up the grey mohair in the picture.
A couple of weeks ago I visited this gorgeous store ,Threads and More in Sherwood ( a Brisbane suburb), which was also a bit of an inspiration. Here's hoping I am inspired enough to begin something before the weather warms up!
