Tuesday treasures
A bit of a retro treasure today, very unlike my usual decor of pretty vintage china. This coffee set was a wedding gift from a dear friend whom I haven't seen for some years but who I was fairly close to at the time of my marriage. I must say this was a very trendy look at the time and it was used a lot in the early years of my marriage. Now it is relegated to the china cupboard, but brings back great memories when I look at it. Mostly of the great times I had with my friend as, sad to say, the coffee set has well outlasted the marriage.

PS Don't forget my give-away. I'll be drawing the winner next Tuesday.
The big five-oh
No, not my age but my number of posts. To celebrate this milestone I am having a give-away. Just a few bits and pieces from my stash. If you would like to enter, just leave a comment.

Friday French favourites
Joining Selina again to share some lovely French stuff. A bit of a problem coming up with different posts when we travelled together but... c'est la vie!
One of my favourite places we visited was Arles, the place our cruise started from. I knew there was a Roman arena there but not much else about the place. Not having studied art I wasn't aware of its connection with Vincent van Gogh, but our guide told us lots about his stay there and pointed out places associated with his paintings.
This picture is of the garden at the hospice where he stayed and it is kept looking very much the same as it looked in his painting.
We also went to the cafe which features in his painting 'Cafe by night' but somehow I neglected to take a picture. Quel dommage! (what a pity)

Tuesday Treasures
I have a bit of a thing about vintage silver (plated of course- who could afford the real thing!) and today I am sharing a couple of special items. They are special for different reasons; the salad servers because they were a real bargain at Lifeline and I love the handles. The teaspoons and cake server were given to me by my late mother-in-law. They had been given to her as gifts at a bridal shower around 1946 and she had never used them. I have had them for about 30 years and I do use them. Wish I had kept the box the spoons came in though.

PS The birthday girl loved her quilt.

Just in time
Extended deadlines are not good for procrastinators like me. A while back I shared the beginnings of a quilt being made for my youngest sister's 50th birthday. At the time we thought the party was going to be on June 25th and things were speeding along well (particularly with the sister who was joining blocks and quilting).
My final task was the binding and label, which is not a lot, but the party was postponed until this coming weekend so, of course, my stitching kept pace and it was finally completed last weekend. Not quite as bad as the one where I finished the binding in the motel the night before the party!
We are pretty happy with how it turned out, particularly as no fabric was bought especially for it. Our stashes are only slightly diminished I might add.
